For discerning homeowners / energy
Solar, batteries and heat need one shared strategy.
Coordinate high-value energy equipment around weather, tariffs and real household priorities without replacing the devices’ own protections.
Situation
Your equipment does not need another app. It needs a shared strategy.
Each manufacturer optimises its own device. The inverter protects the battery, the heat pump controls temperature and the charger manages the car, but nobody manages the property as one energy system.
I build supervisory logic in Home Assistant that coordinates those devices while respecting their protections and retaining safe manual operation.
Who it is for
For properties where capable equipment is not yet producing a coherent result.
- Solar installations around 10 kWp or larger with substantial battery storage
- Heat pump, hot-water heating, thermal storage or pool
- EV charging, dynamic tariffs or export constraints
- An owner who wants measurable results and accepts data-led tuning
Scope
Control based on energy, weather and actual load priorities.
The design begins with a real baseline and the technical limits of each device. My own test environment uses 14 kWp solar, 56 kWh of batteries, dual Deye inverters and 1,000 litres of thermal storage.
Baseline
Energy flows, peaks, exports, battery cycling and available thermal capacity.
Forecasting
Solar yield, weather, consumption and tariff inputs for decisions.
Priorities
Battery, hot water, thermal storage, EV and flexible loads.
Implementation
Home Assistant automation, local control and available integrations.
Safety limits
Temperatures, reserves, device protection and an understandable manual override.
Evaluation
Before-and-after comparison, tuning and recommendations.
Process
Data first. Control second.
Baseline
At least seven days of real data and documented priorities.
Strategy
Decision logic, safety limits and expected behaviour.
Deployment
Staged implementation with manual override and safe defaults.
Tuning
Thirty days of measurement, comparison and adjustment.
Important boundary
Supervisory control must not replace device protection.
Inverters, batteries, heating systems and chargers retain their own safety logic. If Home Assistant fails, they must continue in a safe autonomous or manual mode.
Next step
Strong equipment, but no shared logic?
Send a basic description of the solar, battery, heating, tariffs and available integrations. We can quickly establish whether a safe, measurable pilot is possible.
